Ashgrove is a newly-restored 1846 sandstone house in the heart of historic Balmain, only 2 kilometres from the Sydney CBD.

"What a wonderful place to stay in an excellent location and with warm hosts like Jenny and Bruce. We feel so well looked after..."

"The perfect stay, such warmth. Thank you again, Jenny..."

The guest accommodation is in the back corner of the Ashgrove property, opening onto a secluded garden. We offer a fully air-conditioned two-storey cottage, completed at the end of 2014. There is a spacious living area with kitchenette on the ground floor, while upstairs you will find a light and airy bedroom with comfortable queen size bed and a fully tiled bathroom with quality fittings. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc. are supplied, and we provide a hair dryer and an iron.

This is a child friendly property, with a single bed downstairs and space in the bedroom for a folding bed or cot, which we can supply. We have an elderly tortoiseshell cat who is always interested in visitors and has learned to tolerate our four pre-school grandchildren.

The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, electric kettle, toaster and microwave. We provide tea and coffee making facilities and stock the room with the ingredients for a light breakfast: bread and condiments, fresh fruit, yoghurt and muesli. Any special dietary requirements our guests might have can be accommodated. We service the room daily, replenishing all supplies as needed.
We are now on the NBN and we provide free WiFi access, HD TV with a DVD player and a stock of DVDs.

Our location is unbeatable. The house and the cottage are quiet and private, but within a stone's throw there are excellent cafes and restaurants, an eclectic corner shop, a choice of massage centres and beauticians and a bus stop for a quick ride to the city. The Balmain and Balmain East ferry wharves are just a few minutes walk away, with ferries going direct to Circular Quay in under 10 minutes, or to Darling Harbour, the North Shore, Greenwich and Cockatoo Island. Our in-room information includes maps and timetables.

PLEASE NOTE
We take payment by bank transfer at least 2 days before arrival, or by cash on arrival. We have no credit card facilities.

Check-in time 1 PM. Check-out 10 AM. Please tell us if you need to arrive earlier or leave later and we will try to accommodate you.

We can provide secure on-site parking by arrangement.

MORE GUEST COMMENTS:

"We've had such a lovely (but too brief) stay at Ashgrove. It's been great to be back in Balmain... We're looking forward to staying again on our next visit home from snowy Switzerland."

"What a lovely peaceful B&B with everything we could wish for. Jenny and Bruce are such welcoming hosts and made our stay very relaxed. Impressed with the amazing restoration of historic Ashgrove, just stunning!"

Reviews

"This is an ideal location for visiting Sydney. Just steps from Darling St., which has every sort of restaurant and shops; and 2 Ferry stops nearby. Jenny is a congenial hostess and made everything so easy for us. We stayed a couple of nights, then went on a cruise to NZ. Returning, we left our "cruise-clothes" suitcase with her, while we set off on a months' camping trip. "No problem" she said. We stayed another 3 days with her before returning to the USA. Her policies are quite casual regarding cancellation, etc. asking only that you be considerate. We will certainly stay here again. Kerry and Fred; California

For the more active types there are several gyms, yoga schools and Pilates studios, or you can swim in the historic Dawn Fraser harbour pool or simply walk or run through the many parks that hug the waterfront.
