| "Holyrood House" is in the middle of the action, walking distance to the many restaurants and shops in the main street, the lake and the Lakehouse, Convent Gallery and most of the attractions of the area. Set in the midst of nearly an acre of wonderful peaceful gardens there is always a place to sit and contemplate the day with a glass of wine or a cup of tea. We have three traditional Bed & Breakfast Rooms, two queen sized are with bathroom ensuite and the third is a King/Twin Spa Suite which has its own large spa bathroom a couple of steps down the hall. All rooms have electric blankets and hydronic heating is throughout the house. We serve a complimentary drink each evening with a selection of nibbles either in one of the Sitting Rooms or in the garden or on a verandah depending upon the weather. A full three course cooked breakfast is served to guests in the main Dining Room each morning. Home preserved fruits, yogurt and muesli are the first course, traditional eggs and bacon, mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes followed by home made jams and toast, tea and coffee complete the meal. Guests staying in our "Apsley Suite" have the facilities of a fully self contained cottage set in the gardens and overlooking the rose garden. This consists of a Sitting Room with a kitchenette facility, wood fire and hydronic Heating, a queen sized bedroom and a spa bathroom. We include all of the makings for a continental breakfast each morning and also a bottle of 'bubbles' and a decanter of port. A cooked breakfast can be arranged and will be delivered to the suite at an agreed time. We charge an additional $15/person/morning for this service. We welcome group bookings of 6 or 8 to celebrate wedding anniversaries, birthdays and any other major event. If there is a group of 8 then those who are staying in the cottage join the others for breakfast and drinks etc. The Guest Lounge has TV/DVD, Music and an 1869 French ERARD Concert Grand Piano which is available to those with the capability or we can arrange for a pianist if required for a celebration. In addition we have a large formal Sitting/Dining Room where guests are welcome to simply sit and read a book or the paper. Tea and coffee are served by us whenever required. We are fully licensed so can provide drinks at any time. Drinks are charged at Bar Prices. Our house is a place where the trials and tribulations of every day life disperse and you can have a relaxing time at any time of year. In the winter it is cosy and warm with hydronic heating and up to 5 fires that we use. In the summer with verandahs on most sides of the house and the construction of the past the house stays very cool during the day and due to the altitude of this town, when you open the windows at night there is always a cooling breeze. |
